Scratch Games Reflection

1:

  • The most fun game I played was "Whack-a-Cat" by JCote13
  • The most difficult game was "Not-so mortal Combat.EXE" by KSchumann
  • The most creative game I played was "Game 4 You" by bgauthier48
2: The game I am writing about is "Maze Game" by MWCapone. Michael made mazes whereas I made a platformer. I would add music to his game to make is more appealing. Instead of sprites for the mazes, backdrops could have been used instead. The time lengths could have also been changed for a different experience.

Final Scratch Project

Here is the link and the embedded game:

Planet Platformer

Truthfully, this idea of mine was completely random as I had no idea what do to, so I just began without much thought. At first, I knew I would need some form of increasing difficulty so I used different planets, and I then made the backdrops and sprites. Most of the challenges occurred in the early stages of development, where I was still figuring out how I would make a walking animation and randomly spawning obstacles. However, once I completed the first random obstacle, they all became much easier, just involving making clones at different positions and programming the clones. The smooth walking animation was also much easier than I thought it would be too. I tested this game by going through my levels and seeing if they loaded properly, if the objects appeared correctly, and if my costume changes were working. Nothing much beyond those topics. I am most proud of how I actually managed to pull off this idea and how well it turned out. However, I am disappointed by the fact that I did not have time to make more planets. In the end, creating this game was an enjoyable experience.

App Challenges on Code Studio

Here are the four challenges:

#1: The app states whether it's currently Halloween time or not. The app will output the current date and time, whether it is Halloween or not, and if it is a good time to go trick-or-treating, etc..

#2: The app should be able to automatically silence the user's device and prevent notifications, etc. when the user enters a classroom at school. The app will output whether the user is in a classroom or not and if the user's device should be silenced or not.

#3:This app should help decide what the user should wear for today based on temperature and preference and gender. The app should output what the user should wear for the day based on climate, what is being done during the day, etc..

#4: The app should help choose what movie the user should go see based on chosen preferences upon use. The app should output what top-rated movies are available in nearby movie theaters.

Features of a "Good" Website

1: In my opinion, the two Top Ten lists for quality website features cover almost everything. The lists have broad features which include basically everything that good websites should have. One thing that the list does not include is images: they spice up a page and can draw interest to what may be written nearby or about the image.

2: Every website has some sort of navigation bar where one can access every topic page that a website has. It makes for easy website navigation and is a "Quality Feature". Also, the four websites all have some form of artwork on the home page or close by. This aforementioned feature can draw interest to the website and is a feature which all good websites should include. The websites also all include an "About" or "Bio" page which describes the creator of the site, what the website's goal is, and other information which the reader may find interesting.

Integrating Reality with Virtual Reality

This strange triangular and circular device on top of the fake gun is called the HTC Vive Tracker. This device is used exclusively for virtual reality and it has the powerful ability to, upon being attached to an object, render it in virtual reality for use within a simulator, game, etc.. Although it can only be used on a few exclusive objects currently, this invention opens countless paths for future technology in the scope of virtual reality. Maybe one day there will be full immersion technology to truly have another reality.

Compact Computer

This is a fairly recent advancement by the well-known technology powerhouse intel. This device is about the size of lipstick, and it contains the hardware of any desktop computer as well. The main feature of this device is that if one can insert it to connect with any HDMI screen, it can "turn" it into a running computer. Although the specs are not too amazing, the concept of this invention opens a world of possibility and roads to cross in the future.
